Howdy,
I'm refinishing and somewhat refurbing my banjo. Part because it's fun, part because I'm looking to improve the sound. I have an Eagle (kit) Flathead (mahogany neck, beech pot) and I want to brighten up the sound a bit.
I'm not sure exactly which model of head I currently have, but it's a Remo frost top weather king, somewhere between 30 and 40 years old.
Should I replace my head, and if so what would you suggest as a replacement. Right now I'm considering going with another Remo frost top weather king.
Thanks! Matt

I would replace it, after all you are refurbishing it. I would stick with a brand new remo head for sure.
That's my story and I'm sticking with it!
Robert.
