I just bought a Hy-Lo banjo at a yardsale. Its a 5 string with a resonator.
I am trying to find some information about the company who made it and when the banjo might have been made. Does anyone have any information about Hy-Lo banjos? I am pretty certain this is a Japanese manufacturer, but other than that, I can't find any other info.

Thanks

I found on a guitar site that Hy-Lo guitars were Japanese and made in the '60s. There was a review of a Hy Lo guitar that said essentially that it didn't look bad and was sturdy. I don't know if that last translates to banjos, but the brand is most likely Japanese.

Hi Banjomonkey1, welcome to the Hangout.

It is possibly Asian in origin given Jims reply. However for a more definitive assessment, you would need do post some clear photos. The procedure how to do this is found in the red(ish) RHS column under '+ Add Content'.
