For a couple months in, it sounds great! Just keep practicing and perfecting the sound and compare what it sounds like in 2 - 3 more months.

You're on the way. Needs work on fluidity more than anything. Keep after it. It's the practice that gets it done.

Well done! You are getting a good tone, Paul; as Bill said, you just need to smooth it out a bit - that will come with practice. I admire your bravery - I only have to THINK about recording a tune and I start making all kinds of mistakes!

It takes a good amount of bravery to record yourself that first time. Good for you!

Sounds good to me. It takes some people years to get that far.

You're off to a good start.
Watch your timing. It sounds to me like you may
be putting in an extra beat after the bridge.

Not bad.

I thought as a first try it was pretty good. You might try a couple of pull offs to spice up the rythm a bit. but you know since I haven't had the gumption to post anything I'd say your on the right track.

Which book are you using?

cfs1 - Posted - 09/21/2009:  19:15:56

costello's how and tao, old wood chuck Rocket Science, and ken perlmans melodic clawhammer...maybe to much info at once but im to scatter brained to stay on one for to long, pull offs are metioned early that, that was a weak attempt at humor

I thought I heard a hesitation and an extra bar or two, but otherwise, sounds good. "Wildwood Flower" BTW was the first piece I learned, mostly because I like to sing it.

I thought that sounded familiar. I too am learning from "The How & Tao" and that is the same way I play "Wildwood Flower".

Good Job. Your well on your way to being a very good banjo player. Keep it up.

really good for a couple of months in! I think you know where you have to improve, the pace is a little clunky, and I think with time, your style will develop and it'll loosen up a bit.

Very nice tune, and a lovely one to work on. Plus I haven't grown a pair and put anything on here, yet, so you're already one step ahead of me!!!

Well done!

Nice. The only thing I can think of has already been said: Timing and fluidity. However, that will come as you practice over and over.

BTW, I am learning this song in Scruggs style.
