Who would do a thing like this 2 in the morning? Will I be able to watch it somehow tomorrow?

Thanks for doing this Craig (and Jason if you see this)!

Best,
Max

I'm probably late to the party, but will this be archived? I'd love to watch, but I make it tonight.

I hope all goes well.

Cheers!

Right way or wrong way, I just want to play the banjo SOME way.

harvey - Posted - 10/19/2009:  12:47:27

Yep, it's a 2am start in my time zone as well. Hopefully there'll be a way to watch later.

Either way, many thanks and good luck Craig

banjered - Posted - 10/19/2009:  17:40:50

I tried to watch it but... The film was quite blurry for five minutes then it went to obliteration with gray pixels and then a box came on and said "A SCRIP IN THIS MOVIE IS CAUSING ADOBE FLASH PLAYER 10 TO RUN SLOWLY. IF IT CONTINUES TO RUN YOUR COMPUTER MAY BECOME UNRESPONSIVE" "ABORT" "CONTINUE" I have a mini-mac so maybe it's a PC/mac thing? Maybe next time if it can be geeked out? Thanks for trying Craig! TC

Well I'm watching it from Aus now and its just fantastic. So interesting. Thanks Craig and Jason.

That was totally awesome! Jason and pharis seem like great people with their heads in the right place. Someday I'll get one of his banjos!

Craig, you did a great job. I really enjoyed watching that out in the living room on the big screen TV. Not exactly HDTV, but not too bad. And, fittingly, I was playing my Romero softly most of the time during the non-music parts.

frailin - Posted - 10/19/2009:  18:40:51

Thanks folks, for tuning in and for all the kind words. Aren't Jason and Pharis two of the nicest people you'd ever wanna meet?! Wow! What fun!

Ok. Looks like this time the technology "took" and I actually have a recording of the show for you folks across the deep blue sea to watch on your own time. Here's the link:

http://www.livestream.com/frailinfl...pectheight=3

One other way you can access the program is to go to www.livestream.com/frailinflix, click on the On-demand button under the video player, open up The Banjo Hangout BANJO BUILDER Series file and click on Jason and Pharis Romero - Romero Banjos.

Oh, here's Jason showing me his Whyte Laydie tattoo. Boy, this guy IS into banjos!

DANG, we're lucky to be playing banjo at time of such great craftsmanship... and such great people. Lucky us!!

Thanks, Craig, for pulling this together. I was supposed to be grading papers last night, but have to admit I spent the time watching the interview instead. Having had the great privilege of visiting with Jason and Pharis last summer, I can only say that they're even more charming in person. Looking forward to the next one of these webcasts.

Hi Craig..........I just got done watching the recording of the Webinar, with Jason and his wife. Being a banjo builder myself, I found it very infomative and interesting. I had to laugh, when they said that they make about 4-5 a month. I am now working on an ordered banjo, that the guy wants around Christmas, and I'd like to have three to take to Clifftop, in Aug. '10. Don't know if I'll make it. Thanks a lot for hosting the Webinar.

Craig, thanks for doing this, I was really interested and impressed with Jason and Pharis's setup. I ordered up a banjo from Jason back in 2006, never having had a Romero in my hands, primarily on the basis of his website. So, Jason, your website works like you want it to work. I found Jason very easy to work with and he went out of his way to get his hands on some really great figured claro walnut for trim pieces that I wanted for a black walnut banjo. I worked with him on a nice scoop inlay that came out exactly like I had envisioned. I am very pleased to own one of his works of art. Thanks, Jason, you really did a great job.

Craig --

The Romero Interview was wonderful. Thrilling to see people really enjoying what
they do for a living. And making such beautiful objects of musical art.

Reminded me of my youth...
I worked in a stained glass studio, for a couple years, during the early-'70s. It was
owned by similarly-dedicated, and enthusiastic, husband/wife team.

I'm clearing my calendar, for next week... to be able to tune in for the live OME interview.

Technical note:
Tell folks to move the camera (laptop) a bit more SLOWLY... Since those are usually on
auto-focus -- the software can't keep up with rapid changes in focus, and lighting.

Best-
Ed Britt

I'm looking forward to seeing what Brooks has to say about banjo building. Anybody who can make banjos without electricity and who can bend rims over a campfire is alright in my book (at least when he was starting out off the grid in New Mexico).

Craig, I didn't know till now that we played "autistic" instruments....maybe THAT'S why mine sounds like it does.

frailin - Posted - 10/23/2009:  13:30:12

Hey PH. To a degree, we're all autists, you know. Or was that artists?

Actually, many autists (it is a word for people with autism) have an amazing/astonishing ability to FOCUS. We all have certain autistic-like traits. They're throughout the general population. Here are just a few folks suspected to have autism. In each case, the autism-like trait(s)/skills significantly facilitated their contributions to science, culture and society.

Thomas Jefferson

Albert Einstein

Bill Gates

Dan Ackroyd

And the list goes on! Each of the above are (were) artists and more. I know how much better an artist I would be if I was gifted with the ability to focus.

Hey! Let's go ride bikes!
