Since Emusic is known for having a lot of bluegrass music, this may be relevent to all here.

They have a little trick they play when you cancel an account. They ask if you want to save the account on inactive status for a certain time period in case you want to come back, all your favorites and such will still be there. They are very adamant that your card will not be charged.

What they don't tell you is at the the end of that period they will just charge your card again and they absolutely will NOT credit it back. I had to dispute the charge with my bank, which also meant cancelling my card and getting a new one, a real big pain.

It's a real shame because they have a lot of good bluegrass on the site.

So everyone beware, they are mor einterested in taking unauthorized money than they are in making satisfied customers.

Just an extra note, a little searching online reveals that this is a very common problem with EMUSIC.COM so be extra aware.

I used the Emusic service when they started up years ago. It was great then, but apparently much has changed.

This type of thing goes on everywhere. I bought a TV from Best Buy. The store advertised "No Interest for Six Months!" What that really meant was that I didn't pay the interest for six months, but the interest charges accrued over that time, and then all those charges would be added to my account at the end of the six months. In other words, there was no savings, just a deferment. I found out about it a month later when I got my bill and looked at it closely. Luckily I was able to pay off the entire thing, and will not be fooled by that gimmick again!

Buyer Beware!

Most of those come ons that say no interest for some many months tack on the interest for all of it if not paid by specified date. Read the fine print, carefully. That's how it works, and they have all of the bucks.
