8/26/09 - Okay, got my questions answered. Now for sale in the classifieds.
I'm thinking of selling this but I want to ensure it is what I was told it was. I bought a Sullivan Greenbriar two years ago that had been converted to an archtop and the sale included the original rim and 20 hole tone ring. I truly believe that it is the original rim and tone ring, but nowhere does it say Sullivan or First quality on the parts. It did come in a First Quality box. I have not taken the tone ring off. My question is, do the Greenbriar rims (specifically 2002 Greenbriars) have any kind of ID on them? I do not want to advertise something if it isn't what I'm advertising.
Thanks! Kevin
Update: got the photo loaded on my homepage, but it ain't working here.

Give Eric Sullivan a call at First Quality Music--he'll be able to give you any information you'd need.
Best,
John

I have had 4 Greenbriar and other high end Sullivan banjos. My first (#0061) had a Cooperman rim. I knew that only because Bill told me., the Presentation had a submerged rim. It was written in pencil on the top of the rim. The standard rim in the high end Sullivan banjos such as the Greenbriar is the Cox rim. Bill and Eric told me that Gibson used Cooperman rims (slightly lower cost) many are excellent, but they can be made of about any maple. Cox uses northern rock maple consistently. The Sullivan banjo I now have, has the Historic rim, and it is branded. As far as the tone ring, I do not recall seeing a mark or serial #.
I got a really nice banjo for my Mother in Law...(Pretty good trade, eh?)

Thanks John and Kurt. I may send an email to Eric at FQM to get his input. Sounds like it may be one of those Cooperman rims. I had emailed Bill Sullivan a couple of times about the conversion ring (it's Cox) and the archtop tone ring (Sullivan), but never asked him about the original parts.
Thanks again! Kevin
