After loosing this years banjo competition I've set my sights to next years song selection. If there are any judges out there, what would you think of a slow song being played in a banjo competition? I was thinking of Ashokan Farewell as tabed by Ian Perry in the July '04 issue of BNL. Feedback please!
"you might as well give your son a ticket to hell as give him a five-string banjo!" (mountain minister) Earl Scruggs and the 5-string banjo. Check out Mike''s Mute at www.mikesbanjomute.com

Winnie Winston told me he watched someone playing at a banjo contest. He said they played Reubens Train, as slow as slow can be, but played really clearly with good timing. They won

Ashokan Farewell is a great song. I'm no judge, but I like the tune.
