I was at the Station Inn Thursday night and Verlon Thompson mentioned that Charlie Cushman was in the hospital following a heart attack. Does anyone know how Charlie is doing? I certainly wish him the very best for a quick recovery.

jfb - Posted - 07/25/2009:  12:04:44

I also would like to wish him a speedy recovery..that should be a reminder to us all..to try to take care of our selves much better than we do with the diet and exercise routine..and we all at a minimum probably should take a baby asprin each day, if not a full strenth one..get well soon Charlie..

Charlie did have a heart attack Wed and was admited to the hospital Thursday. He is to have bypass surgery on Monday. I'm sure Charlie will be glad to know all his BHO friends are pulling for him. Charlie is pretty tuff...I'm sure everything will be ok.

I certainly hope he will be well too. I have not met Charlie except for phone calls and Emails. He and Robin Smith just completed a fantastic setup on my Bowtie and sent it back to me in California. From the phone calls and emails we had, he seems to be an absolute gentleman, even offering to pick banjo with me when I'm in the area. I almost booked a flight that same day! He is in my prayers.

Prayers and blessings to you, Charlie! You are a great guy, and a great picker. I was just listening to Shawn Camp live from the Station Inn today, and admiring your picking extremely. I was in Nashville about a month ago and Charlie took a whole morning to check my Scout. He also introduced me to several of his banjos, which was a soul-opening experience. Get well quick, friend. We're praying for you on this side of the Atlantic.

On August 23, Charlie will turn 50. Heart attacks usually aren't on the radar at that age, and we're all pulling a full recovery. Charlie's a treasure in so many ways; let's hope he's well enough to pick a few by his birthday.

Larry or anyone else: Will he need help covering expenses during this time, and if so, I'll be first in line with $50.

Charlie, Don't worry, the surgery isn't as bad as you will think it is, it's nothing with Jesus on your side. I've got to go in tomorrow morning, I got an infection in my neck cathetier (for dialysis) which they say led to my heart attack two weeks ago. I had mine on a Wednesday, and was back out picking the next Saturday afternoon. I wish you all the BEST, a very speedy recovery...and we're all praying for you. God Bless,

Just think when Charlie gets increased blood flow he can pick even faster except that cant be humanly possible.
Get well soon Charlie .By the way ,the set up you did on my Chief last summer is so perfect its ridiculous.I'll bring it back down for its 100 thousand mile check up .
Hurry up now.

Hey Larry,
Tell Charlie to get well soon and that we are thinking of him.
Tell him to let them fix him up good and right, so he will be at SPBGMA with us, so we can have another story telling session in our room again next year, man that was fun
Tell him we said to mind his Dr. and his wife when he gets home to recover.
We'll be praying for him
