All week I've been getting discouraged with some auctions I've been following on e-bay and watching some good bargains get bumped up out of sensible reach by people who backed off once the price got way up there. A couple of good GoldTones sold used for close to new prices. Anyway, I'm done with e-bay.

I think I'll have some cheese with that whine.

So I shopped around and purchased a new Bean Blossom BB 100 starter set from Instrument Alley. I'm so excited about finally making the purchase and I can't wait to start picking. The banjo is supposedly in stock, so I hope I'll have it before the weekend.

It can be a frustrating process bidding on auctions, especially if you are an international bidder. It's a good thing you got the banjo that you wanted from a recognised outlet. Enjoy the journey.

I think that was a sensible plan. Now you can get started playing right away and have some banjo fun this summer.! You can take your time looking around for a banjo upgrade, and won't be tempted to overbid on ebay.

I've been scouring the classifieds here, craigslist all over south Texas, pawnshops all over the Rio Grande Valley, and e-bay for over a month. My biggest problem is finding the best deal I can with a starting budget of less than $300. That also needed to include everything I needed to start learning.

You might be laughing, but have you ever used a good banjo mute? My wife can sit next to me all day while I play, and never say a word. Well....she stopped talking to me years ago, but that's besides the point.

But in all seriousness....think about a mute, if you have any qualms about the volume.

E-e-e-e-e-e-excellent! Another one joins the vexed, the perplexed, and the hexed!

The BB 100 has a cool looking headstock and the tuning machines are better than I would expect for a banjo in it's price range. I think you are gonna love it! Good luck, Russ.

Yeah Dennis, my wife stopped talking to me some years ago. Then she moved far away.

A couple of years ago I got tired of all the scams and the holes in eBayr security, not to mention the company's tendency to favor the interests of sellers over buyers. Any true bargains the crop up were always snatched by people who live on eBay and watch it like hawks. I decided I preferred the old fashioned approach of dealing with an espablished reputable vendor (yes, I know there such on eBay but I prefer independents like Janet Davis, FQMS, Elderly, etc.) I didn't mind paying a bit more - a good vendor earns what they charge. I lived happily and contentedly for decades before eBay. I don't miss it now. But to each his/her own.

Welcom to BHO and happy picking!
