Well, as of 10 minutes ago I got a brand new banjo on order from TheBanjoHut.com The return police (3 days or so) kinda worries but, but i've heard nothing but great things about their customer service, so that helped a lot. I'm getting the Mastercraft Bluegrass Series in Mahogany. I'm excited.

Welcome to the party dude
just wait till your asking random strangers on the street for a couple of bucks for a new capo or strap.
The seeds of addiction were planted with your purchase!

Congrats dude... it is addicting, I started with a Deering Sierra, then I bought a Gibson ESS... sold the Deering and now I'm making banjos from parts I've bought from BHO and a few select dealers. Finished a Flying Eagle Granada now I'm working on an RB-75.

Be VERY patient and have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought my first one on purpose. I met my second one at a music store and after sitting and playing it for a while, bought it.

I bought my third one after playing a Golden Deluxe. I couldn't get the price down below $5500.00 and found out that I could custom order a new Huber Lexington for less and did so.

I don't regret buying any of them.

I wish I could acquire more.

My first one was given to me to start learning with, then 2 months later I bought a gold tone CC100R, then four months later I bought a recording king R80. Be careful, it truly is an addicting and wonderful instrument!

I played for almost 30 years before getting a "second" banjo. I traded banjos twice prior to that: from an RB 100 to an RB 250 in the 60s, and then sold the RB 250 to buy a ball bearing Granada in the late 70s. Only the move from the RB 100 to the RB 250 seemed to "help" my playing development. All subsequent purchases were out of pure lust.

Those nice bonuses in the roaring 90s got me started on serious BAS. Now up to 5, and considering #6. All Gibsons and Vegas.

Enjoy!

The Old Timer, still learning!

Try 16! Oh, by the way. Did I mention that I have some banjos for sale? LOL

16!?!?!? yikes. How many have you had over all, even the ones that you've sold prior to now?

WOW!, I'd have to think about that for a while. If you totaled out over the time I've been playing. Maybe 40? + or- a few.... I'm not even an exception. There is a friend of mine here on the hangout who probably has 40 right now! No real mystery to it. When we find them, we buy them. Or sometimes build them. Each has it's own personality, and history. Kind of like meeting new people. Some you really like. Some you just can't stand being around!

I hope your not married, because banjos attract chicks and you have to swat them away like flies

Best wishes with your new mastercraft. Paul at Banjo Hut is good to work with. I have purchased two banjos from him and he has always been polite, understanding and helpful.

Hey biz, I went with Banjohut.com cause I've heard great things about their customer service. I'm a bit nervous about buying a banjo that i've never seen/heard in person but I'm putting a lot of faith into this. Had it not been for the raving reviews I, more than likely, would not have bought it through them. My UPS confirmation said it should arrive on Wednesday 7-1-09. God I hope sooner... need to do me some pickin.
