Can anyone give me information on buying or making some friction banjo tuners that are like the fiddle type tuners. I have several older unmarked banjos with these type of pegheads and only have 2 original tuners. And none for the 5th string .I am aware there are geared replicas out there and have read I cant just buy fiddle tuners and use them on the banjo due to the length issue. I would really like to stay with the original on these How do I ensure a good fit? do I ream the peghead to match the tuners ?I also have an old unmarked banjo that has a classical guitar type peghead shape I need to find tuners for, the pictures can be found in my hangout photo album here is a link to the first issue http://www.banjohangout.org/myhango...&albumid=296 and the guitar peghead
http://www.banjohangout.org/myhango...&albumid=296 thank you for any help in advance
a few more pictures can be found in the same album located here http://www.banjohangout.org/myhango...&albumid=296
I lack very little work getting these two banjos playable again and am anxious to see how they sound !

You can hand-carve pegs or you can buy violin, viola, cello or flamenco guitar pegs and trim them to size. Either way, the job is easier if you have a peg-shaper(like a big pencil-sharpener) and matching peg-hole reamer. There are several violin parts houses that have the pegs and tools in their catalogs. Metropolitan Music and International Violin Supply are the ones I use most.
