Hello gang, just wanted to perhaps give someone hope in your learning. I started trying to learn banjo in 2004 and after some frustration and the loss of my instructor I gave up. I then started clawhammer but just couldn't get bluegrass out of my mind. So I quit again, to make a long story short I finally decided to learn on my own and will not quit again. This past week I found the tab for Grandfathers Clock and started slowly trying to learn. So far I have the first portion broken down and stuck into my thick old head and to my surprise it even sounds like the song, timing is good and notes sound clear. I will learn and will not guit again I hope this was just my final stumbling block. Thanks to all of you that keep pounding it into our thick head that you can learn if you don't give up.

Great spirit, Richard - another tool for you would be books and DVDs - I found great success with the Murphy Method - and unlike an instructor, they don't quit on you! Keep on keepin' on! Best, JR
