Just bought a "Hy-Lo" banjo used. Only other markings are "made in Japan" behind the headstock. Inside the case was a handwritten banjo tab on a church treasurers report from 1967. Does anyone know anything about this brand? The only references on Banjo Hangout for "Hy-Lo" are to a player of yore named Hylo Brown.

Hi Bob, There is a website that lists most of the Asian banjos over time. The name does not appear there but then, it is not exaustive. If you could post some photos of it either here or on your BHO homepage ( instructions are on the green panel on the RHS of the page), then it would help to ID it.
