I have a prospective student visiting me tomorrow. He says he owns a Palmer banjo. I have never heard of them. I've checked Bill Palmer's website and he figures they are Asian and not worth much. Does anyone else have any knowledge/experience of them? Many thanks!

I owned a Pamer banjo in the early 80s. It was a 2 piece flange banjo with a pretty decent flathead 20 hole tone ring in it. The rim gave way on it where the flange seats against it within a couple weeks after I bought it. I went back to the store with it and they had me a new finished rim for it within about a week. Never had any more problems with it. It's the only one I've ever seen or heard of. I guess they didn't make too many of them. I've seen a couple Palmers on e bay, but they are of the aluminum rim variety. If he's got one of the old ones like I had, It's a really good beginner or intermediate banjo.
